Abstract

|
Takayasu¢¥s disease is currently recognized as an arteritis of unknown etiology which may involve the aorta and its main branches. It can progress to stenosis, occlusion or aneurismal dilation of the affected vessel. This disease most frequently has been reported from Orient, and has affected primarily young females. Clinical features are attributed to an obstructive arteritis of the large vessels. Renal artery involvement was the cause of severe persistent hypertension.
This is a report of a 5 year old girl who developed hypertension and was confirmed by symptoms, chest X-ray, blood renin activity, IVP and aortic angiogram. On aortogram, the both renal arteries were affected.
This case was treated with captopril¢ç and effectively controlled hypertension.
A brief review of literatures was presented.
